WHEELS & AXLES
OneSteel Rail & Forge produces forged and rolled railway wheels, forged railway axles and fully assembled wheelsets to International Standards for all classes of rollingstock.
In particular, the company is at the forefront in developing products for higher axle loading. New materials and designs for specific applications such as high hardness and wear resistant wheels have been developed by OneSteel Rail & Forge. These wheels deliver improved performance in heavy haul applications.
Total control of the manufacturing process begins in steelmaking. OneSteel Rail & Forge employs the latest melting, refining and casting technologies in the production of high quality ingots and billets.
Forged and rolled wheels of widely varying shapes can be produced in sizes ranging from 650mm to 1250mm in diameter. In addition, smaller wheels, trackwheels and gearblanks can be produced as press forgings.
A modern C.A.D./C.A.M. process links design flexibility to manufacturing at the shop floor by generating tooling for forging and rolling, and machining programs for the C.N.C. wheel machining centres.
Forged steel railway axles are manufactured by OneSteel Rail & Forge to required configurations using C.N.C. forging and machining facilities. Wheels and axles, either as individual components or fully assembled into wheelsets, meet the full range of railway requirements. Wheelset configurations vary from standard carriage and wagon sets to heavy haul assemblies. All products are manufactured to meet the requirements of International Standards.
