Moly-Cop is a global market leading brand in the production and supply of mining consumables and has built a strong reputation over many years for outstanding service, industry knowledge and trusted supply of grinding media products.

In the 1930’s Armco’s Sheffield Steel produced the first heat-treated grinding ball to reduce grinding ball consumption using molybdenum and copper as steel additives. The new ball significantly improved wear performance versus the quality levels of the time and became the standard of the industry. The product was patented and appropriately trademarked as Moly-Cop.

As part of a complete service offering Moly-Cop provide application engineers that work with customers to develop and improve their systems and as a result of this partnering approach they are continually improving their products. This gives the Moly-Cop and it’s clients the advantage of knowledge in a rapidly changing industry and keeps Moly-Cop innovation one step ahead of its competitors.

Products & Services

Moly-Cop produce forged steel balls for fine grinding of mineral ores and other particulate materials, from steel bars of high carbon and special alloy, by a proprietary process of heating, forging and heat treatment, which aims to achieve maximum durability of the products final application.

Grinding media are used extensively in mining particularly in the fast growing copper, iron ore and gold industries in which Moly-Cop is the market leading supplier.

Ball products range from 25mm to 160mm in a variety of steel grades to suit a range of applications. Premium grade high carbon steel ball mill media has become Moly-Cop's standard product to the market, resulting in superior wear performance for Moly-Cop customers.

In addition Moly-Cop offer access to and support for the Moly-Cop Tools simulation package. This software package provides a suite of spread sheet based programs established to support the Plant Metallurgist in their role to optimise their milling operation. Topics covered include:
