Interviewing
The interview process provides you with an opportunity to learn more about the position and OneSteel.
You will participate in a behavioural-based interview, which provides us with the opportunity to make a fair and objective assessment of your skills and abilities in relation to the position you have applied for.
Behaviour-based interviews operate on the principle that the best predictor of future behaviour is past behaviour. You will be asked questions in relation to a number of specific job-related skills and behaviours, for example commercial awareness, taking initiative, negotiation skills or attention to detail. You will need to provide:
1. specific examples of situations or circumstances
2. the action/s you took in these situations and
3. the result or outcome of your actions.
Some examples of behavioural-based questions are:
- Tell me about an event when you had to work with a difficult person
- Describe a situation where you had to coordinate the activities of other people.
Give me an example of a goal you set and how you reached it.
- Tell me about a time when you had to persuade someone to your point of view.
By providing examples, convince me that you can adapt to a wide variety of people, situations, and environments.
- Tell me about a time when you have been challenged within your role
