| Unlimited Opportunities for Young Professionals!
Exciting opportunities are available each year for enthusiastic, career-focused
individuals to experience our three-month paid Vacation Work Program
at our Whyalla Steelworks and Newcastle Steel Mills. About the Program Running from December to February, the Vacation Work Program
will provide you with an opportunity to apply what you have learnt in your
studies to real life situations in a large manufacturing business. Your experience
will be part of a structured work program supported by mentors,
who will guide you along the way to ensure that you get the most you possibly
can out of the program.
During your Vacation Work Experience, you will undertake meaningful projects,
problem-solving initiatives and interact with all people from all levels of
the business. Plant tours and presentations will also provide you with an understanding
of processes and operations across the site.

Life in Whyalla “Having other young people to socialise with in a friendly community
with ease of access to entertainment facilities was fantastic” said one
of our students from last year.
The seaside city of Whyalla enjoys a Mediterranean-style climate and outdoor
lifestyle. A huge range of sporting activities is available, including cricket,
fishing, diving and water-skiing. The five hotels, movie cinemas and recreation
centre also provided hours of entertainment for last year’s students.
Weekend camping trips are made easy, with the Flinders Ranges only an hour
away. Other beautiful weekend destinations for surf and a bit of sun include
Port Lincoln, Tumby Bay and Arno Bay.

Accommodation High quality student accommodation is available at the Whyalla Campus of
the University of South Australia. An allowance is provided to subsidise the
costs of this cottage style accommodation, giving students great opportunity
to socialise and share their experiences from the program at an affordable
price.
